Rhymes With Orange Newsletter #4

Dear friends,

It's been a long time since I last wrote a newsletter, but I can only say you're lucky this isn't a thank you note, because that would have taken me even longer.

There have been a few improvements in Rhymes-With-Orange-land, the most notable one being that I now have a computer keyboard whose letter "O" does not stick on humid days. Even the most simple of correspondences had become painstaking, if not obscene-sounding. (Just imagine... "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh, how happy I was to get your letter...)

The website now has a new, funny logo on the splash page. If I don't get sued by an international orange juice conglomerate, it should be there for a while. Watch out for it. It's also started appearing in the first panel of the colored Sunday funnies.

This week has been a odd one, as I have been been rising at 5 am each day so I can be on time to guest dj a morning show. I'm the "news-reading sidekick" to the "Dave-in-the-Morning" show on wrnx in holyoke, ma. (The "Rhymes With Orange" jingle on the web site is a product of the goofiness of that show.)

I like being on the radio, now that I've gotten a little more comfortable and stutter a little less through the newscast. The drawback has been the early mornings and the out of body feeling that hits me around two in the afternoon. (Lucky I am not too proud to nap, but I still feel al little loopy.)

If you find the RWO comic strips in the next few weeks to be a little more out there than usual, I offer up extreme sleep deprivation as the cause. (For those not in the know, I have to be about a month ahead or I'm in big trouble with my syndicate. The only one who can have a shorter lead time is Doonesbury, because he does topical material and is big and powerful.)

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

Best,

Hilary
